We like to take this 420 celebration as an opportunity to ask?
In 1961 cannabis was prohibited in Denmark by law.
We estimate that Denmark has spends hundreds of billions of DKK to enforce this law.
60 years have passed and we'd like to ask:
- What do the Danes get out of the enormous spend?
- How have 60 years of illegalization made Denmark a better place?
The many good reasons to legalize the plant are slowly but surely convincing politicians around the world. But not in Denmark yet.
We found one politician that is for legalization and that is Torsten Gejl.
Torsten Gejl is a member of the Danish parliament we have asked Torsten to write us a little post.
Torsten Gejl.
Thank you Torsten.
We hope you are right and legalization will happen before we know it.
More good reasons to legalization:
Hemp is rich on protein and oil, it grows fast and you are able to use the whole plant from the trunk to the leaves and seeds. No waste whatsoever.
To grow cannabis it’s not necessary to use pesticides or weed remover, cannabis will simply outgrow the competition. Another point we would like to highlight is the cannabis footprint. If you believe water is a limited resource then you need to know.
Cotton production will use around 70% more water than cannabis to grow similar volume. Our conclusion is that the development of hemp and its usage is still way behind. Due to the laws made in the 60’s, cannabis has not received the attention, science, technologies, resources and development it deserves.
A Stockholm Environment Institute report from 2005 reads as following:
"In terms of material substitution, hemp has a lower impact in terms of water, energy and the ecological footprint. However, the full potential of the technologies identified in this study has not yet been realised.
The most promising technologies for transforming hemp into a usable product are still at the pilot stage and therefore it is currently not in the position to replace cotton and polyester.

As Cannabis is a right nightmare to turn into a nice soft garment it has still not been possible for Alis to make all our products in Hemp…yet.
But we do have a few “Legalise” T-Shirts in our tried and tested, pre-shrunk and soft 55/45 Hemp/ Cotton blend.
Enjoy 420

Every December in Bangalore there is a big skateboard competition called Jugaad, and we are so happy to have been supporting the competition with some prizes. This year it takes place at Bangalore Arena from December 6-8.
So Nunkima Ralte Talte won some of our prizes in Bangalore from the competition last year, and in this beautiful short film, he skates through the prettiest sceneries of Bangalore on one of our ALIS skateboards.
Enjoy

With a big surf and skateboarding community these people was really in need of a skate park, and luckily that is exactly what they got. With the help of locals and about a 100 volunteers from all around the world, the skate park was finished after just 3 weeks. The skate park has a lot of good details to skate, like the mosque entrance, the palm tree in middle, or the huge wave created by Wonder concrete. All with a view overlooking the colorful city, mountains and the big blue sea, this place should definitely be on your travel list.
Taghazout skate park had a big opening celebration, and the guys from Levis Skateboarding was there to document it. See the short documentary they did here:

5th of august 2018 ALIS celebrated the 20th anniversary of our beloved skatepark Wonderland.
With a new solar panel roof Wonderland looked prettier than ever, celebrating together with CPH Open and all our friends & family, it was made sure that it was a celebration never to be forgotten. With help from Baby Baby crew, the Wonder-bar was provided with more than enough beverages, so the money collected goes towards the next build-project, in Iquitos Peru Skatepark, in amazon. Good tunes was provided by Copenhagen music legends: Phase 5, Al Agami, Nicky Guerrero, Connie Jazz, Simon Dokkedal and Bikstok Røgsystem.
The skaters also fired up for a skate jam so holy even the gods must have been entertained!
The local skate hero and Alis rider Dannie Carlsen took the gold in the 20 year old skate bowl, surrounded by a big celebrating crowd.

In December 2016 Albert from ALIS traveled with his young son to Kathmandu, Nepal, to meet up with his friends from #makelifeskatelife. The mission was to fix up a small neglected skate spot in the capital, and at the same time try to work out a deal with the nepalese government to get permission to build bigger and better in a new location in year 2017.
The plan worked. Above, Albert took some photos of the small skatespot, and in April 2017 the building in The Annapurna Skatepark in Pokhara will begin.
